What will I see?
New 3D/4D ultrasound technology allows you to see your baby moving around, changing position kicking and stretching. Sometimes blinking, yawning or even sucking it's thumb. In fact all the mischief your baby gets up to in the womb can be seen in real time.
Is it safe?
Yes. Over 30 years of ultrasound clinical practice and numerous research papers have not shown any adverse side effects for either mother or baby linked to ultrasound.
Will a BabyScan scan always be successful?
Unfortunately the old adage of not working with animals and children also refers to those still in the womb. Sometimes your baby may not be in the ideal position for scanning. If this is the case we may ask you to go for a short walk in order to encourage your baby to move. If we are unable to obtain a satisfactory result at your initial appointment we will offer you another appointment at no extra cost.
Does a BabyScan scan replace my hospital scans?
No. A BabyScan ultrasound is in no way a replacement for your routine hospital appointments and scans.
Will my scan detect any abnormalities?
A BabyScan 4D scan is a non-medical bonding scan. We do not provide anomaly reports and all mothers should have attended their routine 20 week hospital anomaly scan prior to undertaking a BabyScan appointment. However, all our staff are fully trained ultrasonograhers and in the event that anything suspicious is seen we act upon our duty of care to inform both you and liaise with your midwife or obstetrician to inform them of our findings.
When can I have a BabyScan scan?
The best time to achieve good results from your 3D/4D BabyScan is between 24 and 32 weeks when your baby is big enough to see clearly and still has room to move around.
How long does my appointment last?
Most appointments will last for approximately 45 minutes; this may vary depending on your chosen package and also anytime required to ensure that your baby is in the optimum position for scanning. In this time we will aim to show you as much of your baby as possible.
Can I bring family or friends with me?
At BabyScan we feel that your scanning experience is a magical bonding time to be shared and are happy to accommodate family and friends.
Do I need a full bladder?
No. Unlike the traditional hospital ultrasound scans, at this gestation stage your baby is big enough to be scanned without having a full bladder, so you will be able to enjoy your scanning experience in comfort!
Do I need to bring anything with me?
All you should bring with you are your pregnancy notes and contact details of your midwife, GP or obstetrician so that we may contact them if necessary.
Can you tell me the sex of my baby?
In most cases we will be able to tell you the sex of your baby. Please ensure that you tell us at the time of your appointment if you DO NOT wish to know.
Can I have a BabyScan scan if I am expecting twins or triplets etc?
Yes we are able to scan multiple births although this will take longer, so please ensure that you let us know at time of booking so that we can book you a longer appointment. There is a small premium for multiple births, please see package prices.
If you have any other questions please feel free to email or phone us
